Wilson Betemit-Dodgers 3b

Does anyone have any thoughts on Wilson Betemit? He's been a fairly solid player when he's had the chance to play. He's playing 3B for the Dodgers but is also eligible at 2B and SS in my league. Does anyone else have this situation? He could have really strong value as a 2B or SS since those positions are so shallow. He's got more power than most 2B's or SS's.

I think he's capable of 15-20 HR and 75+ RBI with a solid BA, even though he hasn't hit lefties very well at all. Even if he ends up batting against mostly righties he should still manage 400+ ABs with comparatively good numbers (compared to other 2B and SS), considering he qualifies for a middle infielder in most leagues.

I hope so anyway. . .

I've seen him go in a 12 teamer as a backup 2b/3b/ss and he fills that good since he plays all 3, he's worth a late round pick

I tend to grab him with the last pick of most of my drafts because of his flexibility, certainly not a bad option at 2B with the shallow pool you're picking from there.

I think 15-20 HR's anywhere from 70-80 RBI's with .275 BA or so.

Is he going to be an everyday guy? I know they had him penciled in at 3B, but he's had a horrible spring from what i understand and they had been considering alternatives. Haven't heard anything in a week or so though.

Considering Furcal's status, I'd say his job is pretty safe.

I don't believe LaRoche has done anything in ST to unseat him. So, he seems fairly safe to me.

I've been saying this since the Braves traded him: he's vastly overrated. His periferrals suggest a BA around .260, and while his power is legit, (an ISOP of .200 isn't like impossible), he probably won't walk enough to be an above-average 3B, especially in a fantasy league. Draft Adrian Beltre before you draft Wilson Betemit.

His splits are so egregious that he is not really an every day fantasy player. He kills righties but is worthless against lefties. He is great at home (both Turner and Dodger Stadium) but is abysmal on the road. Even if this trend was exaggerated last year, it was so strong that it holds water with me.

He also has had soem mental lapse problems and defensive issues and has LaRoche breathing down his neck. He is one of those guys that might pan out as a real nice sleeper, but he may also stink out the gate and wind up on the bench or in AAA.

He reminds me way to much of Beltre, but without so much potential.
