Garza will be in the rotation sooner rather than later. One of the Silva-Ponson duo is bound to fail, if not both. When that happens, Garza will be up for good.

Sorry to add a question on top of this, but it's kind of related. What about Slowey? I heard he's got a very high ceiling, any chance he gets a rotation spot before Garza?

I think the chances of that happening are quite slim, but that certainly isn't a knock on Slowey. The Twins were quite impressed with him during spring training (he apparently nearly lost the sight in one eye due to a corneal ulcer). Garza has simply dominating stuff while Slowey is a command type pitcher often compared to Brad Radke. He will almost certainly get an audition with the big team later in the year however.

That's a good assessment. Slowey will have to wait his turn behind Garza, but at the very least he is a September callup this year, I would say it's likely he is up before then.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Matt Garza announced as a starter in the next couple days. Silva gave up 9 runs today in 3 1/3 innings.... Against the Pirates.
