Just drafted this. How'd I do

It's an 8 team League I drafted 7th. I think I did alright but not quite sure. It's a league with some guys at work and there is some $$ on it. We run 2 Utility Slots and its a 10 category league.

1B - Konerko
2B - Figgins
SS - Hanley Ramirez
3B - Chipper Jones
OF - Beltran
OF - Crawford
OF - Carlos Lee
UTIL - Adam Dunn
UTIL - Frank Thomas

BN - Giambi 1B
BN - JD Drew OIF
BN - Lo Duca C

SP - Carpenter
SP - Smoltz
RP - Rivera
RP - Papelbon
P - Chien Mien Wang
P - Pedro Martinez
P - Jered Weaver

BN - Wickman RP
BN - Isringhausen RP


My thoughts were that I grabbed a lot of Speed and a lot of Power. I think I have good closers but I"m not sure if Papelbon is going to be as good as last year. My starting pitching should be alright I hope. My only weak link I think is 3B and maybe hitting for AVG?

What are you thoughts?

Papelbon's moving the the starting rotation this year, so don't count on him the the CP spot. Wickman is a gamble, but a good one. Izzy is a toss up. Here's how I rate your team:

1B--A-: Konerko has peaked, but is still solid. Giambi is always a question mark, but keeps putting up the numbers.

2B--B: lots of speed, but can he hit for average again? Good versatility

3B--B: Chipper could be solid for average, HR and RBI's, but is a significant injury risk.

SS--B+: could be a solid A, but Hanley is injured right now (hamstring) which will limit his SB's.

OF--A+: Wow, I'm envious.

SP--B+: love Carp and Smoltz at the top. Solid producers. Wang will get wins, but won't get K's. Pedro could come back strong, but he's wait and see, and Weaver is starting the year on the DL. You could use another arm here.

RP--A-: some gambles, but I think they'll payoff.

Who are some of the arms or bats on Waivers??

Get Paul LoDuca off your roster. You have no need for a backup Catcher.
Get your relievers into your starting lineup at all times. You rotate your starters as they are on the hill.
Get Chien-Ming Wang off your roster. His lack of K's will hurt you as much, if not more than Adam Dunn's AVG will.

Not sold on HanRam or Chipper. Dunn is an average killer. Other thn that, I really like your squad. Good front line starters and good depth in the bullpen. Papelbon is a wildcard. If he's as good a starter as a closer, your pitching staff could be really good.

I followed the advice and dropped Lo Duca.

I"m wondering if I should add a younger player like Ian Kinsler or Edwin Encarnacion as both are on waivers and give me a little infield depth. Also I heard that Chone Figgins might be hurt so do you think Kinsler would be the best pickup right now so I get another 2B?

As for Pedro I was hoping to stash him on the DL to start the year. I didn't know that Weaver was starting the DL or I wouldn't have taken Pedro. I got him in the very last round.

Going beyond what has been said already, you have a ton of wasted power sitting on your bench Thomas and Dunn, or Giambi I would try to deal 1 of them, dunn might get you a better deal as he is younger although I would keep Thomas for a little better avr, 2 fa pitchers I would target are AJ and Bush alot of Ks there, AJ is worth the risk IMO,, GREAT OF

I just threw up in my mouth a little. Ervin Santana on waivers? Grab him as quickly as possible. He is the missing piece for you.

I realize it's only an 8-team league, but his ADP is 121. That's about the 15th round for you.

Considering there are 22 players on your roster, this is a clear oversight by all 8 owners.

I like your team, your offense will be very competitive.

Santana and Bush are two pitchers that do not need to be on waivers. I like Borowski, Valverde, and Dempter on the RP side. AJ is an option too, if he can stay healthy, him and Halladay is fierce 1-2.
