Looking over the current contracts of MLB players, I'd have to say Toronto has the best basement bargain contract out there with Vernon Wells.

5 years at $14.7 mil
'03 0.35 mil 8-o

'04 0.7 mil 8-o

'05 2.9 mil
'06 4.3 mil
'07 5.6 mil

Plus whichever agent did the contract had no performance incentives and escape clauses included, if I am correct. We're talking about a potential second rounder getting paid 700K next year

In '04 he makes about 4% what Delgado makes (18.5 mil)

Soriano's contract is pretty cheap as well. $800,000 8-o

Pujols: $900,000 in 2003, although I think he might be getting a new deal this season?

prior has the option to void the contract and go to arbitration after 2004. its still a bargain through 2004 though.
