So what are your opinions on Chris Young, Arizona OF? Are the Carl Crawford comparisons this year coming too soon, or is he really going to bust out in '07 with 20 HR, 80 RBI and 20 SB?
My take: I think he's definitely going to be great, but the hype is all a little early. I say '08 or '09 at the latest are more likely going to be his coming out party. For a guy who hasn't seen much of MLB ball yet, '07 just seems to be too soon.
I think Chris Young can put up .260 15/15 with upside for more. His average will be low, but he certainly has the potential to put together a 20/20 season.
I am drinking the Kool-Aid. Chris Young goes 20-20 and wins the ROY in a landslide. I think there is a good chance that Chris Young has better home run and steals numbers than anyone else named Young this year, while hitting around .270.

"I do not think baseball of today is any better than it was 30 years ago... I still think Radbourne is the greatest of the pitchers." John Sullivan 1914-Old athletes never change.
The Carl Crawford comparisons are one's I haven't heard. He doesn't have the speed to do that. However he can be Mike Cameron this year. He is rising so fast though that you might have to over-pay to get him if you haven't drafted yet. The comparison was made in another thread..my lazy butt isn't gonna look for it...and Eric Byrnes is probably the better value this year. He can be had later and put up comparable stats.
I do buy the fact that he is gonna be good this year and probably win NL ROY, but the price is going up too fast for me.

I was drinking the "Hermida" flavored cool aid last season so ive tempered expectations a bit. I do like the kid alot however, but he could really hurt your BA. his RBI opps will be minimal in the leadoff spot as well. i wouldnt annoint him 20 20 just yet but he certainly has the potential to do it. his reduction his K's last year was an encouraging sign . if you temper expectations you wont be dissapointed. I think Mike Cameron is a great comp
It would depend on roster size. I think he belongs somewhere in the middle so if your roster size is 25, then I would take him 12 or 13 overall in a keeper league.
In my keeper draft, I took him in the 13th round.
I am also on the bandwagon. FWIW Hermida was always an injury risk. I still think he will bounce back.
Yeah it rubs me wrong when someone says a player was a bust because he was hurt. He was hurt, simple as that. Hermida, Hardy, Rios, Gomes etc weren't busts, they were guys who got hurt so didn't play a full season.
