Rate this money league team

I just drafted for my buddy who had to work tonight for his money league....it was an odd league set up, and one that I wouldn't usually play, but I'll get a crack of the cash if we win, so what do you think and what can I do to improve?

12 team H2H league....10X6 R, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, AVG, OPS X W, CG, SV, K, ERA, WHIP

C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, OF, UTIL, UTIL

I firmly believed hitting to be much more valuable so I mainly focused on getting a solid core of good contact hitters with decent speed. I assumed that 3B/CG were a crapshoot, so didn't even worry about them.

I think this is a good team that focuses on offense. If it's a keeper, this is deadly. SP leaves something to be desired with only 3 real starters so he can guarantee last in CG and W. Other than Nathan, there is no guaranteed RP so you might be able to trade some of that hitting for pitching. I think you could sacrifice an OF or Konerko for a decent starter or closer and middle of the road starter. You might want to try to get Jimmy Rollins to help with SB and 3B.

Aside from Nathan and Young, your pitching is really iffy. Matsuzaka is surrounded by question marks, and I don't believe Gagne will ever be a solid closer again.
You've got lots of options at OF. Look to upgrade pitching by shipping an OF out.

Just realized, IP is a pitching category too.

Yuck.

What this means for my friend is rampant roster churning no? He'll win IP/K/CG quite easily and all of those ratio RP's I drafted (Zumaya, Broxton, Shields) will pretty much keep him competitive in ERA/WHIP.

That's definitely an interesting setup, and considering the 10x6 your strategy of getting a solid core of hitters was a sound one. I love your first 3 picks with Pujols, Bay, and Holliday. You're not in a terrible spot with your pitching, and of course a lot will depend on the arm of your "ace" Dice-K, but that's the one and only area that really needs improving (if you're looking for something to improve).

But with the league setup, I don't see any reason to overpay for a top tier pitcher. Especially in a H2H format... I'd say hold on to your OFers and watch your team win a majority of the batting categories.

Holy weird categories, Batman. Hitting definitely outpunches pitching in this league, so your draft strategy was accurate at least. I'd say focus on ratios, and let the churners take the counting cats when they can. Occasionally if you have a hot week you should pull out W's. Maybe it's me, but is there a serious lack of speed on this team, or am I overlooking a player or two somehow?? Bay, Holiday, and Delmon should each give you a handfull, as well as Pujols possibly, but I just don't see a real threat. If your team loses HRs more than 1-2 weeks all season, I'll eat my hat.

If you anticipate your leaguemates streaming starters, you may want to try and load up on Closers so you can count on winning a counting cat (Saves) most weeks, as well. If they're streaming, you can pretty much kiss K's goodbye regardless of performance, but as I said earlier, Wins should go your way at times, and if you stick to your guns, you ought to come away with ERA and WHIP, too. Even if they stream, I imagine you'll tie CGs 0 - 0 most weeks.

Man I hate having 2B and 3B as hitting cats. CG too.
