In a Monday press conference in Japan, Kazuo Matsui confirmed that he decided to sign with the Mets. Matsui said he chose the Mets over the Angels, Dodgers and Yankees. It's believed that he's getting a three-year, $20 million contract. He traveled to New York immediately after the press conference and should officially sign his deal this afternoon.

The dodgers better not screw this free agent year over. For once they have a little bit of flexibility, yet appear to be hog-tied over the looming purchase of the team. Well, we did hang on to Ventura!

i wonder if the only reason they kept ventura was because they plan on dealin the off again on again beltre or do they plan on haivn ventura be their everyday first baseman?
