Exactly, player options. So how is he losing money? If he were on the Red Sox, I imagine his possibility of activating his options would go up from 85-90% to 100%. Can he void his options right now if he wants? Would he do that? He'd most likely be losing about $30M if he did, so I highly doubt he will. And if he actually does, good for him. No, I mean that if A-Rod doesn't use his options for $27M, he'd probably be signed for about $17M. Multiply that by 3 years and he loses $30M.

And I don't think he will, which is why I said "I highly doubt he will."

Mad thinks he'll decline his options though :-o but I don't see it happening.

That was only if he stays in Texas. He's got 4 more years guaranteed, then the 3 1 year player options. I said he'd give up those 3 years to get out of Texas if they are not contenders by then.

Now I have no idea if he will give them up now, in order to go to Boston. No clue at all. I'm curious to see what happens myself.
