explain to me why he isnt a full time OF?
Scott's competing with Jason Lane for a job this spring. Lane's hitting up in the .300's with Scott, and just blasted two home runs yesterday...
I hear Garner's a stubborn guy and wants to prove he didn't make a mistake with Lane...

I thought these two were supposed to platoon with Lane going against lefties and Luke Scott starting when there's a right handed starter up there. Is this not the case now? I can't imagine them sitting on Luke when his OPS is up over 1.000 against RHP.
Lane, who lost his right field job in '06 after hitting just over .200 in the first two months of the season, appears to be in a neck-and-neck race with Luke Scott for the starting job this year.
There is no way I see Lane being able to hold onto the starting job.
Truth be told I don't know much about Scott but Lane is just not good enough to start. He has moderate power and is pretty lackluster in everything else.

His major league numbers are too small a sample size.
His minor league numbers look good, because he was far above in age to the competition. In 2005 at age 26, he was in AA, which is old to be in AA. In 2006 and 2007 he was in AAA at age 27 and 28, again very old. He also played in the extreme hitters league in the PCL.
