The Cubs announced that they wouldn't offer arbitration to Shawn Estes, Antonio Alfonseca, Kenny Lofton and six other free agents. Mark Guthrie, Doug Glanville, Eric Karros, Troy O'Leary, Dave Veres and Tony Womack were the others. All are now officially ex-Cubs.
I would have liked for the Cubbies to have kept Lofton......but in the big picture, I guess it was necessary....
BYE, BYE Alf......

England's Worcester Canoe Club set the world record for paddling a hand-propelled bathtub. The 25 man team covered a distance of 55 miles, 425 yards in 24 hours on September 28 and 29, 1979.
Yeah, it would have been nice to keep Lofton. Should be interesting to see what final moves the Cubs make before the season starts.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

whats wrong with Estes ? ???
he once went 19-5, had a 3.18 ERA with 181 k's ... could be a solid guy ... Looks like a top 20 pitcher to me. I think Estes was even a CY Young candidate too ..

I'll compromise.
1st---We get Miggy.
2nd--We get Thomson.
3rd--Then we grab Estes.
Definitely not a star studded rotation, but better than what we've had.

Lol.
Well, Thomson signed with the Braves. We might actually have to consider getting Estes.
