Race for the 5th Starter

Postby deerayfan072 » Tue Mar 20, 2007 9:58 am

Here are the Results so far of the guys competing for the 5 spot:

Tim Corcoran 5G 0-1 6.00 ERA 9 IP 9 H 3 BB 4 K .257 Avg
J.P. Howell 5G 0-1 1.80 ERA 10IP 9 H 4 BB 4 K .250 Avg
E- Jax 5G 0-1 1.80 ERA 10IP 5H 6 BB 7 K .143 Avg
Jae kuk Ryu 4G 0-0 1.50 ERA 6 IP 6H 1 BB 4 K .261 Avg

I want E-Jax and he is looking like he should get it. Gets the K's, walks are a problem, but he is getting out of the jams. That average he is holding them to is straight sick

I think it is Ejax's to lose, but Howell is throwing pretty well. I do believe that Ejax would do better in the pen then Howell would do to his stuff being quite a bit better though.

Thing is i think E is pitching better b/c they have the confidence in him to start. I don't think he does well out of the pen

I like Howell because Ejax can be a better Bullpen pitcher than Howell but I think that Ryu should be getting more opportunities. 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 K, 1 BB is very nice and a .250 BAA isn't bad either. The other 2 BB alot of batters and they would both be good starters I would like to see Howell or Ryu although they would all be fine in the BP or starting

Niemann and Sonanstine looked good in their time in spring training as well so thats a good sign for the future

i like ejax.
and the whole thing is if he has problems then can always throw in the bullpen for 2 weeks and let ryu or howell get a start or 2

I do not like Ryu as a Starter and i am sorry but i am tired of soft tossers like Howell and Fossum. E has the fire and the firepower to be the best pitcher

1.80 ST ERA

This race is getting good.

I really think Hicky is helping all of these pitchers out, glad he is there over Butcher
