I think this team is a top two team without a doubt. Barring injury I should be goin for a championship. Standard Yahoo! 12-team league. Here's my Roster:
C: Russell Martin
1B: Gary Sheffield (Via Trade)
2B: Chone Figgins
3B: Ryan Zimmerman (Via Trade)
SS: Michael Young (Via Trade)
OF: Alfonso Soriano
OF: Manny Ramirez (Via Trade)
OF: Nick Markakis
UTIL: Jim Thome
BN: Mark Teahen
BN: Ian Kinsler
BN: Moises Alou
SP: Chris Carpenter
SP: Roy Oswalt
RP: Mariano Rivera
RP: Joel Zumaya
P: Scott Kazmir
P: Cole Hamels
P: Josh Johnson
P: Jose Contreras
Pending Waiver: Drop Alou for Coco Crisp
I think this team has it all. What do you all think? I know I need another closer but does anyone else see other holes? Will Help in Return. Leave a link.
Not a bad looking team. The only thing I think you need to worry about is the health of your team, and the age. Sheff is getting up there in age, and was out most of last year. Thome had a comeback year last year, hopefully he'll play at the level for you again. We all know how Manny can be.
So if I was you I would possible sacrafice Sheff in a trade and try and grab a solid 1B, along with someone to strengthen what seems to be a very weak bench.
I like your pitching, but again it doesn't seem to be very deep. Maybe you could trade Kazmir for a better RP.
Solid start, you definitely should contend this year. The only players that worry me are Sheff, Markakis and Thome. I personally would have tried to trade for a better 1B instead of getting a Zimm/Sheff package, and put Teahen in the other corner. I personally don't think Sheff is coming back for any more big years. Zimm is sick, but how's he going to get rbi when no one on his team can get on base? Thome scares me because he can begin to drop off at any moment now. Pitchers are real nice up front, but I'd just keep an eye on the back end of your rotation until about May when you can get a better idea of what kind of season it's going to be for them.
That's just me nit picking. Good team overall, good luck this year!
Yeah, great team, no doubt. I actually have hope for the old ones on your list, so I'm even more for your team. I'm also routing this year for Markakis. I mean, if you could package Sheff for a younger bat, that would be helpful, but I wouldn't give him up if it wasn't a great return!
very solid team. I especially like what you did with your pitching - you have three bona fide aces. your hitters are a very nice mix of the old (sheff, thome, manny) and the young (martin, markakis, zimmerman).
You'll be competitive in both steals and power, and average shouldn't be too much of a problem. barring any unusual setbacks i don't see why you can't runa way with a 12-team league.

Your pitching is pretty stacked. Mike Young is extremely underrated. Your offense is nice although I am not sold on Martin. Chris Iannetta for Colorado could be a huge breakthrough catcher playing in Colorado, so watch out for him if he starts out hot.
Very nice team. Good job on somehow getting Carpenter and Oswalt. Good depth with your bats as well. I think you'll be a contender for sure ... also, what rp's are on the waiver wire?
There's not much on the waiver wire as far as RP's are concerned. For some reason people took every closer with a job. No matter how mediocre they are. Early in the draft too.
