Pitchers adding new pitches

Postby williesd » Mon Mar 19, 2007 2:30 pm

I've heard about a couple Pitchers that are adding new pitches.

Lackey - Change and Cutter
Wagner - Splitter
Bonderman - Change

Has anyone else heard anything?

RJ has added a 85 mph fastball that doesn't move much and can usually be hit about 425 ft.

Smoltz has been working on a change up this spring. From what I have seen him pitch so far it has looked pretty good.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

Curt Schilling-S- Red Sox Mar. 5 - 9:34 am et

Curt Schilling is working to add a changeup to his repertoire, throwing nine of them Sunday against the Twins.

"I think it's good enough to be my No. 2 pitch on some nights," Schilling said. "That's why I'm starting to use it. I think it can be a pitch that I strike people out with. I can get outs with. And so it's definitely going to be an integral part of spring training and hopefully going into the season a very big part of my success this year."
