It is also economics. They Reds would have to eat a ton of cash and settle for little in return. While that might be the right baseball move, they would have a hard time selling that to the average fan.

It's sad to see Griffey refered to as a sub-standard CFer. I remember how great he used to play the position. It's a shame his body couldn't hold up longer. He would have been an alltime great. If not the alltime great.

He isn't in the Yahoo Database yet.

Apparently nobody's bothered to tell Ryan Freel that he's going to be moving from RF.... I'm still sceptical this move will ever happen.
I would look for the opening day lineup to have Freel in RF and Josh Hamilton in CF. The rest of the year will play out in reaction to injuries
From the Dayton Daily News:
Freel has had no conversations with Griffey about taking his spot in center field, and hopes it is a glass-like transition.
"I don't know what I'd say if I did talk to Griffey," said Freel. "I just don't want that guy (Griffey) mad at me. It's not my fault. I know we have to have him out there somewhere.
"For the team's sake, it would be beneficial for him to be in right and stay healthy. You can't replace that guy and I've said that from Day One. I can't replace what he brings offensively."
Freel said he has heard what Narron said, but nobody has said anything to him.
"Until it's April 2, Opening Day - then I'll believe it," he said. "I just want to get out of here in one piece, then let it all out in Cincinnati. I just want to be smart down here."
