I've been playing fantasy baseball for a few years now in several different leagues and dues were never an issue. Guys seem to pay up although some after the season has started---never a problem.
I decided to run a league myself this year through Yahoo! and I have a group of 12 guys. 7 close friends and 5 guys who are friends of my friends. Dues are set at 50...I've sent out 3 emails about sending dues asap. I've received 3 checks so far and anticipate at least a few more before the season starts.(less than 9 days until draft)
Anyways, my question to you commissioner's out there is....if there are members who have not paid dues into say......May/June----
What do I do with these deadbeat owners??
Any advice would be very much appreiciated!!

We don't let owners make trades or pickup free agents until their dues are in.
I don't think you want to go as far as to say that they can't score points until their teams are in, because if they start out in the hole they may just abandon ship.

Nothing that a crowbar and a knock on the door at about 1 am won't fix...
But seriously, it seems that the guys I've known the longest always take the longest to get their money to me... I only make new owners pay by a certain deadline (before the draft)...

The people who are friends of your friends make them collect it.
I let my players pay when its good for them and if not by the allstar break then it comes off the top and affects every team in the league. I had one issue in the yeras i have done this and when the league prize was adjusted he got crap from all of us(not just me)

try to keep the other owners informed about who has/hasn't paid yet, those that have payed will help you get on the case of those who have not. setting a firm deadline with penalties in a very casual recreational league may not have the desired effect. hell its only 50, they will come around eventually, right?
