Who do you think would offer more value as a Yankee next year, Colon or Pettitte? Although many Yankee fans are adement about Pettitte staying thanks to his great post-season, I don't totally see it as a big loss if we lose him to Houston and sign Colon. I mean, Pettitte has been shaky in post-season for years, as evident by his career 4.50 ERA. This post-season year was an exception more than anything. With Bartolo, the Yanks would be getting a flamethrower, and those sort of guys are the ones that many scouts believe win games in the playoffs.
Pettite has a carrer 4.05 post season ERA not 4.50.
It has to do with more than stats. I, being a Yankee fan, want Pettite back because it is good to show a little loyalty and he deserves to be rewarded after last years postseason.
I have no problem with Colon, but Id rather have Pettite.

Personally, I've always preferred Colon over Pettitte, but it would not hurt the Yankees in the least to have a lefty on the mound.
Any Yankee fans want to give some opinions?

Yeah I gotta agree, I'm not a Colon fan either. I had him in a keeper league last year and tried desperately to trade him before the season. I almost gave him up for Schmidt (unheard of at the time) and then Colon was a flop and Schmidt was #1 in baseball...I guess I learned my lesson. Go with your gut.
If I were the Yankees I'm not so sure I'd want either one but Pettitte has had success in NY so I'd go with him.

Colon and Pettitte are fairly close, at least era wise.

Colon is a year younger with 400 fewer innings. I can see NY fans sticking with whats familiar (Pettitte), although he has what seems like a cult following, since they never remember his failures. In fantasy and in real bb, i would prefer Colon, but the lefty issue is valid for NY.

Finally! I was wondering if I had lost my mind arguing the Arod/Manny, and the Loaiza situations.
Now I know I'm not crazy. Thanks Hootie! Lol.

I remember his failures but when people quote stats as you do, it helps to look closer. He has had a few stinkers that really skew the stats. I like Pettitte because he proved this year again that he can pitch well in a big game. He has also proven that he can pitch in NY. That can't be said about Colon. I also the lefty issue although he is better against righties.
I know that there are more teams in the AL than NY and Boston but isn't Boston's all-world rotation all righty as well.
