they dont sound too surprised... the guy in the lead just kinda looks back and laughs..
also.. is it odd that in 19 years of my life ive never once watched a minute of jeopardy? (except for now with that little clip right there) Ive played variations of it and watched celeb jeopardy.. but never the real thing

why wouldnt he just bet 4000 or 5000 or something more than 2600? to me that just seems odd, i dont know, ive never watched jeopardy so i dont know any rules or if the people losing usually always bet it all

Yeah, that's what they ALWAYS bet. That's the only thing unusual in this case.
It might not be a bad idea actually. The "Dork" still wins $16k and he gets to come back the next day to face the same two opponents. Maybe he felt his opponents were chumps and wanted to face them again.
I believe the same dork lost to the same opponents in the rematch.

He should have bet $2,601 because the maximum possible scores his opponents could have got was $16,000. Since he had $13,400, betting $2,601 would have given him the minimum amount required to guarantee him a win.
I sincerely hope he was doing that on purpose, because if not, that's a pretty bone-headed move. Of course, they could have all planned it in advance knowing that all of them would get paid.

It was intentional. Trebek explained it on Monday. Apparently during the commercial between Double Jeopardy and Final Jeopardy some kid in the audience asked if all three contestants had ever finished tied, Trebek said no, so the guy in the lead figured he'd give it a shot.

Wow. Much ado about nothing.
Well, at least we can all move on with our lives now.

Knowing that now, it's kind of funny to watch the video again. The guy in middle has this really guilty look on his face like he's thinking he might get caught "fixing" the final bet. I dunno if it's just coincidence but he looks nervous as hell. The reactions from the audience and from Alex are pretty funny too. Some groans can be heard from the audience when they see it's gonna be a tie.
