I was just wondering how Yahoo figures the rankings for the next season. Is it based entirely on the previous season's results? Do they rank players that had a bad season or missed a season lower than usual or reinstate them to rankings they might have had before the injuries (e.g. Troy Glaus, Robb Nen)?
Yahoo rankings are completely and totally worthless.
Use them to get the stats for the players, but then throw the order they are listed in, out the window. They are way off base usually.

Well, actually the reason I ask is because I'm considering the effects it might have on the way less "devoted" owners draft their teams, or rather I guess I'm hoping Yahoo "forgets" about certain players that I want to draft.

Well, most of the people in this (private) league are only semi-serious, so I'm hoping to "sneak" a few past 'em. So does anyone know if the rankings take a serious hit after a bad year?

I can answer this: Yes, the rankings take a serious hit if the player didn't perform last year. I've got to go eat, but search through the old posts - say from march or so. You'll find a list of players that Yahoo had ranked low this year and you'll see.
Yes, a player who was off last year (Burrell, RJ) have fallen way, way down the ranking lists at Yahoo. Happens every year.
