All Sleeper Team

I just picked up this week's issue of usa today sports weekly, and it has this season's projected starters. After reading it, I came up with my all sleeper team. Post replies if you have any others that might be on the list.

c Toby Hall- someone has to drive in runs
1b Hee Sop Choi- a sensation
2b Bobby Hill- if he can learn discipline
3b Sean Burroughs- sophomore sensation
ss Carlos Guillen- this could be his year
of Danny Bautista- a hitting machine
of Austin Kearns- one word, stud
of Marlon Byrd- if he can get in the top of the order, look for big #'s
of Mark Quinn- if he can only stay healthy...
of Hideki Matsui- George's new monster
sp Danny Graves- this year's Derek Lowe????
sp Kyle Lohse- could eventually be their ace
sp A.J. Burnett- in a contract year, and Marlins gave him motivation
sp Bret Myers- a horse on a good team
sp Kirk Saarloos- should get wins with that lineup
sp Jake Peavy- a solid arm with k potential
cl Scott Williamson- he's ready to be at the top of the saves list
cl Alan Embree- if he wins the spot, he'll get a ton of saves

I'd like to suggest Brandon Larson at 3B, but on Yahoo he only qualifies for OF until he logs enough games starting for the Reds at 3B.

As much of a Reds fanatic am I, I'm still hesitant to believe Graves if going to knock 'em dead this year. Can he really be that durable? I hope B Boone keeps him on a very short leash in terms of pitch counts. Derek Lowe was a great story for the Boston fans, and I only pray that Gravy will be the same for the Cincinnati fans in their new ballpark.

I dont know if you can even consider Matsui a sleeper. He is going to be a top twenty outfielder when the season is over.

One name you omitted is Victor Martinez Catcher Cle. Should put up decent #'s this year and year to come.

Lyle Overbay, 1B (Arizona Diamondbacks) - The leading candidate to take over the regular first base job. He hits for incredible average (.345 last year, his lowest average in 4 years in the minors), and last season had his best power numbers with 19 jacks. Instructors have tried to get him to sacrifice some average for power, and it might be paying off. His defense is suspect, however, which may lead to more playing time for Mark Grace. Still, don’t cross this guy off the list for Rookie Of The Year honors.

Franklin German - (Detroit Tigers - RP) Should be a lock to make the Tigers opening day team. He’s the closer of the future and the future could be now. Don’t count Matt Anderson out of the mix, but since these are two of the most valuable chips on the Detroit team, don’t be shocked if one or both end up changing teams.

Mark Teixeira (Texas Rangers -3B) - A true 5 tool prospect, Teixeira just needs a place to play. The Rangers re-signed Herb Perry, and Hank Blalock may still have the edge as the top 3rd base prospect. Rumor has it that one of these guys may find themselves elsewhere by opening day. If so, keep an eye on Teixeira – he could hit .300, 20hr with 20 sb. If he plays in Texas, add a lot of RBIs to that as well.

Rafael Soriano (Seattle Mariner - SP) - Almost a sure lock to have a spot in the Seattle rotation, Soriano throws a 95-7 mph fastball, a kick ass slider, and changeup which has been described as “dominating.” He pitched almost 50 innings in the bigs last year before straining his shoulder. In rehab he was back to his overpowering self. Expect to see what he’s got this season.
