The Orioles are going to try to get................

Postby Madison » Fri Dec 05, 2003 1:47 pm

According to the Washington Post, the Orioles want to sign two players out of the group of Vladimir Guerrero, Miguel Tejada and Javy Lopez.
The team has yet to make an offer to any of the three players, but that should change after the arbitration deadline. Lopez is probably the best bet of the trio to land in Baltimore, but the other two are possibilities. Source: Washington Post

I am almost sure that Javy will end up there for a number of reasons, but although I'm sure they WANT 2 out of those 3, I'd be surpised to see Javy AND either of the other two there.

If I were playing third base and my mother were rounding third with the run that was going to beat us, I'd trip her. Oh, I'd pick her up and brush her off and say, 'Sorry, Mom,' but nobody beats me.

It did surprise me that Pudge wasn't on their list. They've always been interested in him. :-?

Um, no.

Ivan Rodriguez - C - Florida Marlins Dec 5

The two-year contract the Marlins have offered Ivan Rodriguez is worth just $14 million, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Although there isn't a big market for him, Pudge will certainly be able to do better than this elsewhere. The Marlins window to negotiate with Rodriguez expires this weekend. Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

He won't be a Marlin next year unless they severly increase that offer, and I don't see it happening.

About time we heard from the Orioles. Looks like this off-season's sleeping giant is stirring...
