Please rate my latest draft - H2HWS

Postby suckerpuncher » Fri Mar 16, 2007 5:33 pm

I just drafted a team in a 14 team H2H league. I picked 5th.
Cats are: R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OPS --- W, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP

C - P. Lo Duca(17)
1B - D. Ortiz(1)
2B - J. Lugo(7)
3B - A. Béltre(9)
SS - S. Drew(13)
CF - A. Jones(3)
OF - J. Damon(4), A. Dunn(5)
Util - T. Hafner(2)
BN - C. B. Young(20)
SP - C. Schilling(8), C. Capuano(11), F. García(15), K. Escobar(16), S. Olsen(18)
RP - T. Hoffman(6), F. Cordero(10), T. Saito(12), O. Dotel(14), M. Capps(19)

What do you think about the team? Any big weaknesses?
Thanks in advance.

I only have 4 slots for RP but I have 5 RP on my roster. Would you drop Dotel or someone else? Or trying to trade him or another RP for a SP?

Some FA pitcher:
Jeremy Sowers
Mark Mulder
Jake Westbrook
Nate Robertson
Chuck James
Jeff Francis
Vicente Padilla
Woody Williams
Héctor Carrasco
Clay Hensley
Jason Jennings
Ricky Nolasco
Jon Lieber
Brett Tomko
Tim Wakefield
Esteban Loaiza

I also just did a H2HWS draft, but a different league. You got better value for your CF than I did. Nice getting Damon right after you took Jones. I tried to do that but couldn't. I panicked and took Drew in the 9th because the next best was Renteria on my board...wish I got him in the 13th. If Saito is healthy a least I hope so too. biggest steal though is Young in the last rd.

I'm kind of curious as to why you'd take Ortiz #1 with the 5th overall pick, but at any rate, he's a huge asset in an OPS-league. In fact, you locked up your 1B/UTIL with two OPS-heavy beasts in Ortiz and Hafner. Depending on who was taken the first 4 picks, I would've taken A-Rod, M-Cab, Soriano, Santana, Reyes, or Utley even. This might have impacted the way you've drafted. For example, Lugo in the 7th and Beltre in the 9th were reaches. I thought Damon was a slight reach in the 4th too.

You have great depth in your RP, but might need some retooling in your SP. Think of trading Hoffman or Cordero for a reasonably priced mid-tier SP. I would drop Capps for either Reyes, Sowers, or James. ... p?t=258854

Just traded Haren for my Cordero/Garcia.

Maybe I give up a bit too much, but it also frees a roster spot for me so I can pick up Reyes without dropping Capps.
