the Mariners are believed to have offered Oakland free-agent
shortstop Miguel Tejada a contract thought to be three years at $24 million to $25 million, with an option for a fourth year.
They have not gotten that far with Kazuo Matsui, Japanese free-agent shortstop. Various New York papers said the Mets offered a three-year deal similar to the one signed by the Yankees' Hideki Matsui (no relation) for $21 million.
"It appears, if that news is right, that Matsui will be a Met," a Mariners source said.
I was wondering when the Mariners offer to Tejada would show up.
Thanks for the update.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

Mets GM Jim Duquette confirmed that he has made Kazuo Matsui a multiyear offer and expects an answer from him "in the next 24-48 hours." The New York Post reports that the Mets have offered Matsui about $23 million over three years. It's unclear whether Matsui plans to make a decision this weekend. He said yesterday that he had narrowed his choices to four teams, but he wouldn't name them. The Dodgers and Mets are considered the favorites right now. Source: New York Post
