Angels Batting Order - Leadoff? Figgy or Gary?

Postby Philliebuster » Fri Mar 16, 2007 11:33 am

Any halo fans have an idea of what the lineup is going to look like? Can you see figgy moving back to #1? Or do you think he'll stick at #9.

And at some point do you see Howie K moving up in the order, possibly #2?

I listened to the KC v LAA game on the radio the other day and they interviewed a guy from LAA and he said Gary Jr is pretty much locked into being the leadoff guy.

I think Scioscia will stick w/ Figgy at 9 unless Matthews really falters.

I actually see Kendrick moving up in the order, but its a tough fit with Kendrick, Vlad, Cabrera, and Hillebrand (and Rivera when he comes back)all being right-handed. With the two switch hitters batting 1st and 9th, I'm not sure how he can bat higher than 5th, which isn't too bad behind vlad and garrett.

Man this team needs one more left-handed stick to step up like Kotch, or Morales (or McPherson's back).

I've been wrestling with the thought of drafting Figgy as my starting 3B or 3rd OF with him batting 9th. Dont' think he'll have the value he would at the 1 spot. Could lose about a 100 AB's.

Neither of them are good hitters so it probably doesn't really matter, I guess for now they have to hope Mathews only regresses back to a .350 OBP instead of lower.

When (Not IF but WHEN) GAry Jr screws up Figgy will jump to the top of the lineup. Just wait for him, Figgy will get the AB's

I remeber quoting an article which led me to believe that Scioscia wanted to bat Figgy first and GMJ in a more 'power' friendly spot. However, his spring training lineups, all of which look like his opening day roster, Look as if GMJ will bat leadoff and Figgy last. IMO it doesnt matter, neither is way better than the other. Ah well, another sub .350 obp for our lead off hitter. SIGH...
