It's time to start moving Phillips up in the rankings.
His 2nd half slump is overblown considering he was 24 years old and was batting .300 through the end of August (.330 during August). He got banged up and worn down, but it was really only one bad month.
He added 15 pounds and is batting over .350 with 5 HRs this spring, and now he's likely to be the #3 hitter in the Reds lineup.

A few years ago, he was a can't-miss prospect. Don't sleep on this guy.

It nice to hear some positive (and accurate) comments about Phillips every so often. Thanks for the link to the article.

Huh -- I drafted him in round 14, even though I already had Weeks (as a keeper), figuring a) there's no way he should be available at round 14, and b) I could always use a backup for Weeks, who's taking awhile to recovery from his injury.
Given the things you guys have been saying, though, I'm starting to think I had my starter-backup arrangement backwards. Thanks for the news.

Field wrote:Phillips, Barfield, and Kendrick are all very similar players at the 2B position and all can be had relatively late. I was wondering which 2B with the power/speed combo everyone is targeting in rounds 9-13?
i like phillips, barfield, & kinsler a little bit better than kendrick. in drafts i've just been picking up whoever is left. i ended up with phillips twice and kinsler once (12 team leagues).

I think he's gonna be a beast this year. I've drafted him late in almost every league I'm in.
I'm thinking .285/18/90/25 rather conservatively. Although his peripherals will depend largely on where he bats in the lineup, which with Tinker at the helm could be anywhere from 1-8 on any given day.
