Marcus Thames-possible steal?

I read that Leyland wants to get Marcus Thames some work at first base in order to get him more at bats. Does anyone have any news on this. His bat needs to be in that lineup somehow.

He could also get traded. Shelton is still there and they want him to play as well. Both are right handed hitters. And Shelton can play first pretty well. Thames is aweful in the outfield and is working at first base.And I doubt he gets many at bats at DH with Sheffield in town. To bad he wasn't left handed. He can mash.

I am sure that Leyland would love to get Thames 400 or so ABs, but with Sheffield taking the DH spot he will have to prove he can handle 1B to get some ABs. Barring injury I don't know that Thames will see enough consistant PT to be worth having on most leagues.

He won't get the PT until injuries strike, so in shallower leagues you can just wait for injuries. In deeper leagues he's a decent late pick-up, since all he needs is the playing time.
