Keeper League - Young Pitchers

Postby Barry was framed » Thu Mar 15, 2007 3:28 pm

Any suggestions for young pitchers in a keeper league. This could be first or second year players, or anyone expected to come up sometime this year. Some obvious ones are:

Wainright
Loewen
Homer Bailey
Philip Hughes
Adam Miller
Andrew Miller
Boof Bonser
Chuck James
Rich Hill

Thoughts on these? Additions?

Mike Pelfrey - Could develop into an ace if he can work on his breaking pitches, looks to have a good shot at the #5 spot in rotation

Philip Humber - Another met's pitcher, not quite as much upside as Pelfrey as he doesn't have the overpowering fastball but has more refined breaking pitches, may settle in as #2/#3.

Garza deserves a mention. He may not come up right away though, but he's probably still going to be one of the quickest pitchers to deliver solid stats from the ones listed.

Well the obvious guy would be Felix Hernandez.

Also Cole Hamels, and Scott Kazmir, who is still Young.

If you want more sleeperish guys try Luke Hochevar, A. Reyes, and the Millers.

to add to Hurley

"This guy is a big part of our future," manager Ron Washington said.

He started to assert that last summer after a crucial July 24 promotion to Double-A Frisco. He made six starts for the Roughriders and went 5-1 with a 1.95 ERA while holding opponents to a feeble .168 batting average.
