about Brown. I know it sounds greedy to want Brown now too, but the talk of a Weaver-Brown deal is so low risk for the Yanks. Weaver has been a gutless dud in New York, and ridding his contract for a stud like Brown would be so smart. If they had to add some low-level prospect and cash, I do it. Brown, Mussina, Vazquez, Pettitte/Lieber, and Contreras would be one hellova rotation.

yes they are still talking. They are also talking about sending Odalis Perez for Paul Konerko, and Odalis Perez for Edmonds. They really want Paul back. I think that if Odalis gets moved, then the Brown for Weaver deal is more likely to happen. Until then LA said the first step is to get a bat. The town is down on the GM for not agressively going after Lee and Sexson. They tried, just not very hard.
Odalis for Konerko is a mistake. If they are going to trade Odalis, get yourself an impact bat. Odalis still has the potential to revert back to 01 form. I think they are just bitter he was mediocre in 02.

they are bitter cus Odalis called the "team out' during the season. he made comments to the press' and he and the organization had a falling out ...
I still don't think they should just unload him for Paul Konerko. Why not try and add some prospects and get yourself Magglio Ordonez, since LA wants an impact bat and Chicago can't afford to extend Maggs past this season? I know Maggs and Green play the same position, but you could put Green at 1B, since he's said he would move, and keep Maggs in RF. That 3-4 would be one of the best in the league.

well I think the reason they want Konerko is he was a former number one of theirs. He had an off year last year but prior to that he had a pretty good 4 year run. Besides he is signed for the next two years at a very repectable 8 mill per. Personally I don't see that translating into anything great at Chavez, but ya never know. The problem they have now is that their hands are tyed while they are in limbo awaiting the new owner approval. Hopefully it will get approved in two weeks at the winter meetings ..
Until then, I am estatic that the NL West continues to discuss unloading pitching .... it brings me great pleasure ....

Anything to help the Padres....right....
Useless Trivia of the day
England's Worcester Canoe Club set the world record for paddling a hand-propelled bathtub. The 25 man team covered a distance of 55 miles, 425 yards in 24 hours on September 28 and 29, 1979.
I wouldn't consider myself unloading Odalis Perez for Paul Konerko. Konerko has a much better track record then Odalis Perez. Any pitcher should put up good numbers in Chavez, and Odalis seems more a one year wonder to me

Perez isn't a impact pitcher, (terrible outside of LA), why should they get a impact bat in return? Trading Edmonds for Perez would be horrible for Cards. I would take Konerko for Perez, and Edmonds with a cherry on top.
