Wainwright wasn't a closer all year, he threw outta the bullpen but so do most talented young pitchers to start their careers...he is thought of as a closer because of the playoffs/World Series...he is a stud and can strike out anyone

The way he beat my beloved Mets in the playoffs,he has to be good. That series ending knee buckler to Beltran was devestating.

Beltran was quoted recently as saying "I still wouldn't be able to hit that pitch."

The ceiling for Wainwright this year is an ERA in the high 3's with 16 wins IMO. For a safe projection, I use a low 4's ERA, ~150 Ks and 14 wins.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

Just got him the 14th round of my 14 teamer.

Might have been a reach, but I liked the pick...

14th round of 13 teamer here.

Here's my feeling on Wainwright- I'm thinking he's an excellent sleeper because he's almost certain to outperform his ADP this season. Personally I'm feeling the guy has a pretty darn high ceiling.

Not to mention he'll have the super-desirable RP/SP dual eligibility.
