What do you guys think about Corey for 2004. He had a huge breakout year
(298/329/511=839OPS; 13 HR 49 R 55 RBI 16 SB in only 329 AB)
before going down, and he's always been labeled as high-talent.
BUT....
Dude still cannot tell a ball from a strike (K/BB = 77/15). With that sort of .19 eye even in his breakout year, I see a serious risk of his BA dropping below .270. No way it stays at .298, right?
Anyway, I have heard that he is rehabbing like mad, and wants to be ready for the season.
Cubs fan and knowledgeable folks , help me out here. How do you see this guy in 2004? I see lots of talent, but possiblity of going .250 also.
If I were playing third base and my mother were rounding third with the run that was going to beat us, I'd trip her. Oh, I'd pick her up and brush her off and say, 'Sorry, Mom,' but nobody beats me.

It depends on where in the lineup he's hitting. Say, in front of Sosa? Average goes up. Hitting 7th or 8th? Average goes down. Really too early to say.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
It's true his disipline is horrible. He could pull a Soriano though.
A 30/30 guy in fantasy is pretty stellar, even if Corey has a bad average. If he could pull his ratio up to .60, he probably would do quite well. At his young age, plus his power/speed threat, i still like him alot in roto.

I am going to project him close to his '02 numbers with a little better BA, maybe .10 pts higher. As far as Kenny Lofton, only Dusty has said anything about 'wanting' him back. Kenny is not read to sign on as a 4th OF yet. He has, in my best guess, at least 2 solid years left as a starter ... somewhere. Maybe San Diego ...
As far as Patterson, anything else I get out of him will be .. .. ... well ... Butter.
Where would he play in SD?? Don't they have a full OF?? They have Giles, Nevin, Klesko, and Nady sharing the 3 OF spots and 1B, and they have Terrence Long to play OF when Nevin gets injured (notice I didn't say if). I don't see a need for Lofton. Although with all those power hitters, having him in there might not be a bad idea. But who would be on the bench if they actually got Lofton???

Nady and Long are very much trade bait..... Nevin will play 1B, Giles and Klesko in the corner OF spots. There has been mention of Lofton, Cameron and Ordonez all manning center next season ...
If nothing does happen, expect to see Giles in center and Nady/Klesko on the corners. Long will be the 4th OF ..

I agree. I've never thought of the Soriano comparison though. I wouldn't count on him for 30-30 though. maybe 17-30.
