Matsui would fill all sorts of needs for the Mets, and shifting Reyes doesn't seem like too high a price. That said, the Mets shouldn't start to count their chickens quite yet, as several other teams will likely make a serious push soon.
By the way, in contrast to what has been widely reported, Matsui has said he would be willing to play 2B. Just one more option in this scenario...

moving reyes would e a mistake in my opinion. he has an awesome arm that would be a waste at 2nd, and frankly, I think that the mets need to addess their actual problems before going after someone like matsui that plays a position where the future is set
