Not unless they sign a couple of bats before the season starts. Right now it looks like a very frustrating year for Oakland pitchers. Losing 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, will get very old, very fast.

who else will win it? the angels clearly dont have an effective rotation and other than garrett and a healthy glaus (big if) they have an average offense. good bullpen
seattle has an okay offense with a decent pitching staff but they choke after the break every time.
texas has no pitching.
that leaves oakland with the best pitching staff in baseball, a good bullpen including the best closer in the a.l. hopefully and new prospects with a speedy outfield
We'll see, but I just don't see Chavez carrying the entire offense by himself. He's talented, but he cannot do it alone.

The Angels refused to confirm or deny reports that they have offered Bartolo Colon a contract. Speculation is that they've offered him $48 million over four years. If they sign Colon, the Angels would then attempt to deal Jarrod Washburn or Ramon Ortiz for offense. Washburn has all the trade value, so he'd probably be the one to go. Source: Los Angeles Times
Looks like the Angels are stepping up the offer.

The West should be fun next year. But with Zito, Hudson, Mulder, Harden and (?), the A's will be fine. They may start off slow in the runs department, but by the end of the season they'll be producing enough to win.
