PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Phillies have called a news conference for 6 p.m. (ET) today, when it's expected they will announce the acquisition of starting pitcher Eric Milton from the Twins. The Phillies will apparently send reliever Carlos Silva and infielder Nick Punto to Minnesota

Interesting update. I knew Milton was on the block, but didn't think anyone would take his salary. Thanks for the update. ;-D

I'm assuming Milton is basically Millwood insurance in case he decides to sign elsewhere.

Silva was used basically as a long-man and is decent but Punto is really nothing more than a Lou Merloni-type.

Good deal for Philly, don't know what Milton's cap number looks like but adding him to Wolf, Padilla and Myers doesn't hurt them.

Sucks for Twins fans. :-t Good news for BoSox fans, in that Milton didn't go to the Yankees.

Millwood is asking for 5 years and it is turning alot of teams away, ATL included.

Nice pickup by the Phillies. If they still go after Millwood, does this mean that they will finally trade away Ryan Madson ..?? something to watch

Agreed, I had heard he was asking for 5 years or something lengthy like that. Dunno what he's thinking.

Isn't he a Boras guy? That might explain it :-?
