I'd imagine Silva's last start was a product of the weather. He got away with some bad pitches and his sinker wasn't anything special. I'm still apprehensive about him, tonight will be a better indication of if he has figured out his problems from last year and spring at all.
Ortiz has been fantastic. Johan is obviously elite, and I have faith in Boof. If Ortiz can be a 3rd good starter that would be huge.
Silva's last ST start, first start of the year, and tonight's start are restoring SOME of the faith. I know it was only TB, but I'll take that from him anyday.
Silva with another good start last night. Not sure if it's a return to his form of 2005, but I'll take it. Ortiz has been a gem and Santana is the best in the game. If Bonser can get his act together it will give us 4 reliable starters and that's pretty good.
Although, I have the idea that they're going to demote Ponson and let Perkins have a crack at the rotation...but his control on the curve hasn't been too good lately, so I'm not sure I trust him right now...
I could see Perkins slotted in the rotation over Garza, although I would rather see Matt as well.
Ponson may have saved himself because his last start wasn't "awful" and the team can play the "he gave us a chance to win" card. I would have much rather lost that game 14-3 rather than 4-3 and seen Sid cut immediately.
Two more starts...I'll go ahead and say 3 if we win one of his next two starts (the team, not Ponson). If we don't win one of his next two starts, I'll say two lol. Of course, that's not very fair on my part.
Anyways, good win today. Everyone did good. Silva...thank you.
And on a side note, if it happens they call a pitcher up instead of promoting Perkins from the pen, do you think it'll be Garza or Slowey? I know it sounds a bit awkward to think like that, but Slowey has been impressive thus far, while Garza has been mediocre.

I see where you're coming from with the Garza vs. Slowey question, but I think Garza's experience gives him the edge despite the fact that Slowey has been better the 1st part of the year in Rochester. Garza's stuff is also more likely to be able to get major league hitters out, so I think he would get the call.
