true or false: triples (answered)

Postby Arlo » Tue May 07, 2002 3:21 pm

Between 1901 and 1932, there were only three years in which less than 1000 triples were hit in the majors (Ok, I admit it: I looked this up ;-7 ).

True or false: the 1000 triple milestone has never been reached since.

The record, by the way, is an amazing 1364 triples in 1921.

And the answer is... false.

From 1977 to 1983, there were more than 1000 triples in the majors five times, with players like Garry Templeton leading the way.
