ESPN Radio is reporting Luis Castillo agree to a 3 year $16 Million offer to return to the Marlins....More as I find it....

ESPN wrote:Luis Castillo agreed to a three-year, $16 million contract to return to the Marlins that inclues a $2 million signing bonus, ESPN.com has learned.

There is also a $5.25 million option for 2007 that Castillo can guarantee by getting an unspecified number of plate appearances during the life of the contract. That would bring the total value of the deal to four years, $21.25 million.

Castillo chose the Marlins' deal over a three-year offer from the Mets. Had he gone to the Mets, the Marlins were working on trades for either Orlando Hudson of the Blue Jays or Junior Spivey, who was traded Monday from the Diamondbacks to the Brewers.

Here is the story.....

WOW. I'm really suprised the Marlins got it done.

I guess it's a good thing to see a "not-large market" team get a player signed. At least the Marlins aren't selling off this WS winner.

PS
I really thought he was a gonner.

Glad to see FLA keeping Castillo, but he would have looked solid in Chicago ... wonder if that puts the Cubs in the Kaz chase .... :-?

Interesting question. I expect they'll consider it, but I don't see them making a huge push. You never know, though...

And agreed with all - nice move by the Marlins! ;-D

Good move by the Marlins. That's a pretty fair contract.
