How's he been doing, and have his chances for snatching the starting job increased?

He reported elbow soreness so they have were going to hold him out of games for a week as a precaution. Unless its more serious than they said it was I'd expect to see him play again soon.

As already mentioned, they've held him out for a few days now. Since it dosen't look like Koskie is going to be back any time soon, Braun is the best offensive option the Brewers have at 3B. However, he still has work to do on his defense. The Brewers are going to have to deciede if they want him to learn to play defense on the job and live with the mistakes (like they did with Rickie Weeks). Or let Graffanino and Counsell share the job and hope that either Koskie comes back, or Braun shows enough improvement in the minors to warrant a callup.
One thing that leads me to believe that Braun has a good chance of winning the 3B job is Billy Hall moving to the OF. The Brewers already have Corey Hart, Geoff Jenkins, Kevin Mench, Tony Gwynn Jr., Gabe Gross and the always dissappointing Brady Clark all looking for at bats. Why move a productive infeilder to the outfeild THIS season, unless you felt you had someone else to take the 3B job.
just my take.
