I'm trying to move one of my first baseman + an outfielder for a better outfielder. I also will try and pick up a Rafael Soriano or similar type player to replace Lowe once I can pick up players as Free Agents so I don't use my #1 Waiver.
Any and all opinions and criticisms are helpful. Thank You.
If you would like my opinion on your team or trade or anything else just leave a link.
I'd probably replace Vazquez before Lowe. Vazquez is what he is and is only likely to stay even decline from this point, but probably not improve, especially since he just got paid . At least if Lowe stays where he is, that's not too bad.
There is talk of Iguchi moving down in the order (6-7) this year with the possibility of Pods and Erstadt being 1-2, so beware of that. That probably won't happen til late April if at all though, so you have time to see what works out.
I'm considering making a deal with the core of this:
Jose Valverde for Joel Zumaya
I need Holds and he needs Saves so I think it isn't too unreasonable. Then I'll probably pick up a guy who has a shot at being a closer but not necessarily guaranteed, like Taylor Tankersley or Saloman Torres.
I could also just outright pick up a Holds guy like Aaron Heilman, Matt Capps, or Kyle Farnsworth. I would like Zumaya though because I have Todd Jones and if he ends up losing the Closers role, I'll still retain both as Saves and Holds guys, and he also throws up a bunch of Ks.
I'd say it's a fairly solid team. The OF isn't much of a concern to me (outside of Mike Cameron, who I'm not too keen about at this stage of his career). SP is good enough to hold its own.
I'd make the deal for Zumaya and drop Johnson for Rafael Soriano or another SP with similar upside.
I like your squad. The hitting is balanced and u should have a good year in SBs... IMHO i would try and make a deal for a top tier SP...and drop Vasquez before Lowe... Vasquez plays in the hard as hell AL Central and Lowe plays in the weak NL West... Lowe looks to have a better year...
I think your team is very balanced. Lots of speed, lots of power, good average.
Vazquez was a different pitcher towards the end of last year thanks to a new delivery, but he's yet to show that this Spring and he pitches in a tough division. With all the innings he'll give you, it might not be worth keeping him over Lowe.
Honestly, I'd be tempted to trade Mauer and cash in on his popularity since you already have Piazza (who, as a DH, should stay healthy). I'm sure there's someone willing to overpay for him.
some nice speed on your team with crawford and rollins. you should try and upgrade at starting pitching a bit. you have a lot of room to trade offensive wise because you have great power and speed. it seems like the perfect draft for you, no major gaps in your lineups. only thing i can go against is weeks as a starter, im not a fan of him maybe trade him away and start iguchi
