How does this look????

Postby brahner » Fri Mar 09, 2007 12:27 am

I'm in a 10 team H2H league, no keepers. Stat categories are:

R, H, AVG., HR, SB, RBI, W, SV, ERA, ER, K, WHIP

My team:

Batters

C: Jorge Posada
1B: Ryan Howard
2B: Ray Durham
3B: David Wright
SS: Hanley Ramirez
OF: Matt Holiday
OF: Ichiro Suzuki
OF: Michael Cuddyer
OF: Johnny Damon
UTIL: Mark Teahen
UTIL: Austin Kearns
UTIL: Jacque Jones
BN: Omar Vizquel
BN: Craig Monroe
BN: Kevin Youkilis
BN: Ty Wigginton

Pitching

SP: Aaron Harang
SP: Felix Hernandez
SP: Jeremy Bonderman
RP: Billy Wagner
RP: Chris Ray
P: Mike Mussina
P: Francisco Cordero
P: Joe Borowski
BN: Takashi Saito
BN: Tom Glavine
BN: Kenny Rogers
BN: Salomon Torres
BN: Taylor Tankersley

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I realize my relief pitching is probably where I'm most deep. I also wanted to ask advice about Boston's closer. Is it worth dropping Tankersley (injured) to pick up Timlin?? I know he's not technically the closer, but I've been hearing he might be the front runner with Pineiro struggling... Thanks!!!

You've got a great mix of power and speed throughout your lineup. I see no major flaws.

As far as relievers go, there are many options for you to deal for a serviceable starting pitcher -- target someone who is thin in the RP category.

As for Tankersley I wouldn't drop him for Timlin just yet because the Red Sox closing position is still wide open and the staff really wants to see Piniero develop his new delivery. I'd sit back, because there's still the chance the Tankersley becomes the closer when he returns too.

I agree with the poster above. Your RP is very deep. Your SP isn't bad, but I think you could really give it an extra boost by dealing away some of your bullpen depth in return for another solid starter. Your lineup looks very balanced. Howard and Wright in the same offense, and immense speed from Ramirez and Ichiro is incredibly dangerous.

Nice job.

I think Webb is obviously the best pitcher there, but you might be able to get either Hamels or Young for a little bit less.

That said, I have owned Young in the past, and have really taken a liking to him. He put up a 3.45 ERA last year with almost a K per IP. Pretty good numbers for a guy that typically gets drafted in the middle teens rounds. I would start by offering two of your relievers (NOT Wagner), and counter back and forth until you can reach a deal.

Also, you might try posting this in the Trades Forum. It'll probably get more responses there.
