if the move to 3B sticks, i'd think the angels would want to give him most of the season to adjust. i can't see how he wouldn't be called up sometime after mid-season if the adjustment period goes very smoothly, though. it also depends on what kind of production the angels get from 1B/3B this season

Theres a good article Here:
http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070307&content_id=1832149&vkey=spt2007news&fext=.jsp&c_id=ana

Highlights: First Scioscia and the head haunchos in Anaheim are really impressed with his transition so far. However, as we all know, his defense isn't whats holding him back. More impressive is the fact that he seems to be goal oriented, as demonstrated by his comment on his strike outs.
"The talk since I signed was my strikeout ratio being too high," said Wood, the club's top pick in 2003. "It's the part of my game I need to work on.

"I definitely want to stay aggressive up there. I'm not going to go up trying not to strike out; I don't want to take good pitches. If that first pitch is there, I might as well be hacking. But if it's not there, I have to have the ability to lay off it. If you're 1-0, it's in your hands, rather than the pitcher controlling when he gets the first strike."

I hope he has a good hitting coach in Salt Lake ;-D

He'll get eaten up by MLB pitching..... I'd guess it will be 2 or 3 years into his MLB career before he's even a mediocore player, IMO.

while is K rate is certainly alarming, there are lots of players who have plenty of success at the major league level with high K rates.

its not like the kid cant hit a curveball, he just tries to knock pitchers pitches out the park instead of laying off of them. i think his future is very bright personally.

Funny I heard the same rational for the last 3B Angels prospect.

Me saying Wood is going to be mediocore is hardly a stretch. People get too caught up in prospects and thinking they will all become all-stars or above avg, when in reality most don't become anything more than mediocore at best. Wood is just one of those guys that I think will turn out to be middle of the road "if he's lucky".
