ESPN Radio 1000 is reporting that the Diamondbacks will acquire Richie Sexson from the Brewers for Junior Spivey(1), Lyle Overbay, Craig Counsell and Chris Capuano.
The deal will become official on Monday, the station reports. It's a poor trade for the Brewers if true. Spivey's a quality player and Overbay will be a decent first baseman until Cecil Fielder(2) is ready, but Counsell's contract is a big negative and Capuano is nothing special at all(3). The Brewers should be getting more than this if the $3.4 million remaining on Counsell's contract is involved
(1) So long Keith Ginter, hello Scott Hairston.
(2) I think they meant Prince Fielder.
(3) Capuano could be a decent $1 pick.

Glad to finally get him out of Mil. Should be a great increase in RBI's...... not that we didn't know it was coming. Spivey takes an obvious hit in value but Cap. and Overbay should see an increase in value, if only cus they should have a starting gig.

Good move for both teams.
This was sssssoooooooooooo expected in light of the Schilling trade. As talked about in previous posts Milwaukee was included in a 3 way deal, which didn't happen. This is better for the d'backs than the 3 way deal. This way they get to keep the redsox prospects who are nothing short of top 10% minor league prospects.
They were able to get rid of the following.
Overbay is greatly overrated!!!!!!!
Counsel is a good role player but overpriced!
Capuano is a good $1 player.
Spivey could be really good, but Cintron has made him expendable.

Good move for Milwaukee? Lose a 50 hr 130 rbi guy for Spivey and some scrap? There is a reason Milwaukee always sucks. Bad trades, and a lousy draft record.

BIG Love the name. I have been named The Dude in my league ever since that movie came out. It's a great. movie.
On to these prospects. Top 10%? Fossum is as overrated as Overbay. Lyon is ok, nothing special.

Fossum and Lyon are nothing special. I'm talking about De la Rosa...should be above average, and Goss who has a lot of potential if you've seen him play.
I guess what I'm saying, is I like Goss and De la Rosa better than Spivey who is expendable with Cintron there.
Counsel and Overbay are crap as far as I'm concerned.
