What prospects would you trade for the #1 pick?

Postby Galt » Wed Mar 07, 2007 12:07 am

The team with the #1 pick in my 12-team ML keeper league is opening it up to trade, it would obviously be Pujols (but he couldn't be kept)

He wants to replenish his minor league system.

The guys I currently have (we can keep them for four years after they lose rookie eligibility) - only costing a pick in the 20th round or so:

Jay Bruce
Andrew Miller
Yovanni Gallardo
Matt Garza
Carlos Gonzalez
Hunter Pence
Colby Rasmus
Kevin Kouzmanoff
Erick Aybar

(yes, I have a stacked minor league team - and I think I could rebuild much of it again - I picked up Bruce, Gallardo, Garza, Pence, Rasmus, and Kouzmanoff last year off the waiver wire.

He apparantly was already offered (and rejected) Phil Hughes for the #1 pick - but that could just be negotiating leverage.

I also have Liriano, who would cost a 15th round pick to keep this year (and could be kept next year in the 12th round and the year after in the 9th round).

Since I have a bunch of OF, I was thinking of Carlos Gonzalez and Liriano

It would take me 3 prospects to trade Pujols at least.

Wow, the universal expectation is A LOT more than I'm looking to give up.

But I guess I need to reset my expectations here.

yea i agree.... i wouldnt even argue on this with him just let him select the 3 he wants and run with it. on a side note i'd never trade Pujols for that or any package of 3 prospects.

He's probably going to get Hughes and Bailey for Pujols. Unless I wanted to empty out my minor league system and give him Gallardo, Miller, and Bruce - I am out of the running.

I don't understand. You said those guys were all WW pickups? But now you seem to have fallen in love with them so much so that you can''t part with them to get the biggest difference maker in rotisserie. That to me is a headscratcher.

Offer him those 3 then. Pujols is definitely worth it. :-°

Haha, I laugh everytime I see guys scared to part with their "potential" for proven MLB studs. I'd give him my whole farm system for Pujols. Farm systems can be rebuilt every year easy enough. Pujols type players are 1 in a million.
