Do you guys know about this? I just bought a new laptop, and got word about this program. Instead of dropping the 100+ for Word, this is the same thing. And it reads / writes / opens all MSOffice files from word to ppt.

Yeah, it's been discussed here before. It's a well known program and it's awesome. It's what I use.

OpenOffice rules.

It will also convert documents to PDF.

OO is excellent. If you haven't tried Firefox and Thunderbird for browsing and email, you should.

I also use OO instead of shelling out for MSO. ;-D

I had to download a Text to Columns function, but other than that I've liked it all so far.

I used to have it for my Mac back before I got Office as a gift a while ago. It rocks.

You can also use Google's online office docs and spreadsheet. They're free and really easy to share. ;-D

Here's some examples of why it rules:

Two instances.

MS Word and Powerpoint will not open a document they created saying they are corrupt.

They open perfectly fine in Open Office ;-D
