Maximum Innings pitched per week

Here's how you get rid of rotating pitchers.

Change from win,sv,k,era,whip to win,sv,k/9,era,whip
This takes you from 3 counting categories (2 for starters) and 2 ratio categories to 2 counting categories (1 for starters) and 3 ratio categories. Set a high enough minimum innings (for sp,sp,rp,rp,p,p,p daily changes leagues I'd go about 30 minimum ip) and you're set up to discourage rotation of pitchers while still making intelligence spot starting worthwhile for people that do their homework and find quality spot-starts.

I wish Yahoo had a max IP per week option.
7/26 - Cafe goes down:

I need them to add several things...
Outs, Singles, Doubles, Triples, Home Runs, BB+HBP, IBB, SB, CS, GIDP, K on both the hitting AND pitching side for my pet project for the 2008 season.

Also need minimum IP for a SEASON in a roto league.

Just in case anybody from Yahoo's looking. ;-)

Big Game JLo wrote:ESPN looks great! But a max innings pitched is just... ungood. Yahoo has it right with a minimum innings pitched. If you have no minimum innings pitched, you leave yourself open to a HUGE loophole! If I were to play in your league, I would draft the best middle reliever in the game. Pitch him one inning per week. That would win me half the pitching categories. And then for the rest of my draft I wouldn't have to draft any more pitchers!

I would consider moving to Yahoo so that you can have a minimum innings pitched. Until ESPN fixes that loophole, I'll never play there.

For further advice, see my post HERE

Yeah, this was my biggest gripe after switching to ESPN as well, definitely a big loophole. I emailed them and they got back to me saying "It's something we're looking into adding next year", which I think is their way of admitting it was a bad oversight. To close the loophole I decide to add IP's as a sixth pitching cat. I'm not crazy about it but I do like that it rewards consistent endurance pitchers who may not necessarily throw a ton of K's. Also, this gave me an excuse to add OBP as a batting cat which I kind of wanted to do anyway.

Great info! Thanks ;-D

If ESPN gets on the ball and makes this necessary change next year, I'll actually use them for more than just my keeper draft.

The only other thing is to allow 6 teams to make the H2H playoffs in a 10 team league!

limit the starts

Postby King David » Fri Mar 16, 2007 10:28 pm

We use TqStats and have a head to head Fantasy scoring league, and we actually limit the number of starters you can use...we have 2 games for every 7 days of real baseball- our games run Friday- Sunday and then Monday-Thursday...for each of our games, we only allow a team to use 4 starting pitchers...that helps prevent what we call "stacking" pitchers...
