Points league rule question

Why would a league that awards points for IP also have a maximum IP?

It is to prevent churning. Guys would just throw out tons of starting pitchers each week just to get points for IP.

My league plays H2H points on cbs, and our first year some guy killed everyone else in pitching points by churning, so we limited the max amount of SPs on roster at 7, we start 5. This last year it worked, as no one could take advantage. I wanted to set a max starts per week but cbs didnt have that option, so i had to get creative .

Two questions here:

Why have points for IP at all?

Does loading up on IP points really offset the hit you are likely to take in negative point cats like runs earned, BB, and L?

I am new at points leagues, btu it seems to me that these scoring rules contradict. With 10 points for an IP and a 1300 IP limit, for example, isn't every team just going to end up with 13000 IP points?

Most of your questions, and all questions in general, are answered by: "it depends". It all depends on your league scoring. The reason for giving IP points is that, A) IP are valuable in real baseball, and B) it gives an edge to starting pitchers.
