ESPN mock draft lobby

Postby The Big Train » Sat Mar 03, 2007 9:22 pm

The free ESPN mock draft lobby is now running. I tried it today for the first time. Couple of notes:

1. as you might expect, it uses the latest Java technology so you will need to install it and test it before joining a draft.

2. the drafts cannot be customized.

3. the number of teams appears to be capped at 12, so if you are in a league with more than this then you will have to evaluate your results with this in mind.

4. many of the drafts appear to have no one in them at first but they appear to fill up in the last few minutes before the draft starts. There are plenty of drafts available as they start every 5 minutes.

5. my 12-team, 20-round draft lasted just over 1 hour, but that was with a few managers dropping out towards the end as you might expect.

6. you will be e-mailed the entire results of the draft after it is completed.

It was good practice, and as you can see by my results, I completely botched my draft, particularly in the second half of the draft. :-t

I'm sure this is the same with regular drafts on ESPN but I participated in my first ESPN draft (mock) and it sucks. Anyone autodrafting gets the highest player available regardless of need. It makes it way too easy and makes the mock useless. It probably will screw up the ADP big time as well.

i just finished a mock where everybody was present except for one. So pretty successful. My beef about it is their player filter. Players get lost in the draft because they're ranked by their '06 stats. I drafted Dotel in the 20th round. Is that normal?
