I'm a commissioner in a keeper league just entering our second year. At the initial draft last year, we were a traditional 5x5 roto league. We keep five players.
One manager suggested we switch to head-to-head this season. Am I wrong to say that should be out of the question?
I know a lot of people like the immediacy of H2H, but it is a money league, and I think roto is a lot more "fair" in determining who earns the winnings. I hate when a guy has a great draft, makes good moves all season and then loses in the playoffs to a team on a lucky hot streak.
Likewise, the shift to H2H would alter the values of guys like basestealers, closers and pitchers. That wouldn't be fair to guys who have these players as their cornerstones.
It seems like pretty much any rule change would disadvantage someone. All you can do if there's a substantial party in favor is to put it to the league. I'd personally require a supermajority for change, but if this isn't written into your league rules already, you might have a hard time convincing everyone.

the real key for h2h is the season.
we payout the biggest pots to the 2 teams that finish in first place
in each division.
2nd place each get a piece and the 2 world series teams get a piece.
we have division winners get 200 each,2nd place get 75
word lseries winner 100 and loser 50.
we agreed playoffs are more luck and the real skill is the season so we reward each accordingly.
you can also take a liitle slice of each and have a non playoff team
world series,or toilet bowl as we call it,to entice teams from tanking and have a little sometjhing to play for.

why not still reward category winners like in roto, you could do H2H, but then still pay out category winners with some $$$ as well. A little more leg work, but if you kept a running spreadsheet or something, i am sure you could do it.

you might not even have to keep a spreadsheet...i'm pretty sure yahoo (not sure bout the others) keeps a cumulative count of season stats for each team in H2H leagues...
