Postby Eli » Fri Mar 02, 2007 10:16 pm

This might be discussed in another thread, and please point me to it if it is...

Who are the top SP,RP prospects for 2007? Both for Saves or Holds?

Kevin Gregg and Seth McClung are the only closers with SP eligibility that I can think of... and each has a very tenuous hold on the closer job.
RP: Kerry Wood, whoever loses the SP competition in Philly, H. Kuo in LA... I'm at a loss for any more...

It's not a deep list this year... I forgot about Pineiro. Some others (I'm looking it up now), in no particular order:
Jimmy Gobble
Hector Carrasco
Brett Tomko
Oscar Villareal
Ryan Madson
Julian Tavarez
Brad Halsey
Tim Corcoran
Shawn Chacon (or Tony Armas)
Jeremy Affeldt
Lance Cormier
Fausto Carmona (maybe)
Billy Traber
Beltran Perez
Chris Sampson
Dustin McGowan

There are a few guys missing from the list, but most of them are either starters who won't be pitching in relief, or guys who I didn't think would be in the majors. As you can see this year's list kind of sucks. If your want to use a RP in your SP slot I would suggest Wood, Gregg, Pineiro, McClung... in that order.
