Need IMIDIATE Help to Fix Points In our League....plz

Postby FantasyStud852 » Fri Mar 02, 2007 7:04 pm

Before I get started, this is a huge task, and if anyone can get it done, it would be GREATLY GREATLY GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Ok, so for our league, we originally were going to do it on Sportsline, but did not want to pay the fee for the league. So we switched over to fox sports, where there is no fractional scoring. What we need to do is balance out the points so that the overall numbers on the year are as close as possible between Sportsline and Fox Sports. The pitchers categories are the only places where there is a problem (IP=.25, ER=.5). So the pitching is all that really needs to be ajusted, but the hitting points are there too...The info below is labeled and listed

What the SPORTSLINE points would have been:

Scoring for Batting Categories
1B - Singles 1 point
2B - Doubles 2 points
3B - Triples 3 points
BB - Walks (Batters) 1 point
HP - Hit by Pitch 1 point
HR - Home Runs 4 points
KO - Strikeouts (Batter) -1 point
R - Runs 1 point
RBI - Runs Batted In 1 point
SB - Stolen Bases 2 points

Scoring for Pitching Categories
BS - Blown Saves -2 points
CG - Complete Games 5 points
ER - Earned Runs -0.5 points
INN - Innings 0.25 points
K - Strikeouts (Pitcher) 1 point
L - Losses 0 points
NH - No-Hitters 30 points
QS - Quality Starts 0 points
S - Saves 5 points
SO - Shutouts 5 points
W - Wins 0 points
Special Scoring for Starting Pitchers
L - Losses -5 points
QS - Quality Starts 5 points
W - Wins 10 points
Special Scoring for Relief Pitchers
L - Losses -3 points
W - Wins 5 points

Can I ask why your scoring system devalues pitchers so much? Is this intentional, or has it just been too much trouble to change it? You could use this as an opportunity to restructure the scoring system so that the pitchers' values more closely matches that of the hitters.

Uh.....multiply everything by 4? That will make your .25 cat = 1 and your .5 cat = 2, and proportionally everything else will be the same.

Exactly...your only fractional categories are either 0.25 or 0.50 if I'm reading this right so multiply every category by 4 and you're done.
