Keeper League Draft Question

Postby DevilDriver » Fri Mar 02, 2007 5:07 pm

I'm commish of a keeper league going into it's 2nd year. Obviously our draft will be based off of last year's standings, so which draft format is best suited for this situation: snake or regular? BTW, 8 keepers.

Any draft based off last years results cannot be a snake draft.
That would totally defeat the purpose of using last seasons results.

Actually, a draft based off of last year's results most certainly can be a snake draft, and should be. The draft order just shouldn't be random. The starting order of the draft is based on last year's results, and then it follows a snake format from that point on.

I agree with Hobbes. However, I include one twist that makes things very interesting. Here is our draft order:

1st pick: 5th place in last year's regular season standings
2: 6th place
3: 7th place
4: 8th place
5: 9th place
6: 10th place
7: 4th place
8: 3rd place
9: 2nd place
10: 1st place

We play with 6 teams making the playoffs. The problem is that the bottom dwellers seem to lose interest. This format does not reward quitters because if they can finish at least in 7th or 8th place, they get a fairly decent draft spot in next year's draft. ;-D
