Owner holding people up

I'm not sure why we have this rule, but people can start drafting in our e-mail draft 3 weeks before it officially starts, but they don't have to pick. However, it seems like one owner is abusing this system as he has taken a day to make a pick one time and will be at least two days on his next pick. It's like a nightly game guessing if he's picking or not. He hasn't expressed a desire to leave a queue, and it seems rude not to warn people in advance if you're going not going to pick for prolonged periods of time. At some point, it becomes too much. There's 9 other owners in this league that want to keep the draft at a lively pace, and this guy has killed it twice.

I know the rule says nobody "has to" pick until a certain date, but is it too much to expect at least a warning of an upcoming excrutiatingly long wait?

I'm wondering why he even stayed in the league - he was on the fence about leaving.

If all of the other owners are on board with dumping the guy, do it. No one will be upset. Otherwise, I'd change the rules to prevent this next year as there's nothing you can do now.

but hes not breaking any rules. and if he doesnt pick how does everyone else pick?

What Chad said. If he doesn't have to pick at all, he's doing nothing wrong. Seems like the intent of the rule 'no one is required to make a pick' is to allow precisely this.

At worst he's an inconsiderate jerk, but you shouldn't boot him if he's following the rules.

I agree with everyone else here. Change the rule for next year or kick him out. But, isn't this rule of picking 3 weeks before the draft, and not forcing a pick, just to speed it up when it comes to draft day? I mean, you guys must be making some headway if his turn has come up a couple of times already. If this were happening once the actual draft happened, it seems to me you'd have a real problem, but since there is no mandatory pick time right now, you don't really have a whole lot to worry about.
